New Happenings at BooMusic !

July 14, 2011

Greetings:

Lots of cool things happening around Baraboo Music these days!

First of all, we have officially signed on with Marshall Amplification. As many of you know, Marshall IS rock 'n roll - so if you have ever dreamed of producing that pure rock sound from your guitar -- now is the time to come on down and check them out.

Secondly, we want to welcome Amy Bell to our staff here at Baraboo Music as a Violin instructor and sales associate. Amy hails from the Dallas - Ft Worth area and has a degree in commercial music. She is looking forward to meeting and getting to know all of our regular customers as well as incoming violin students. Welcome Amy !!

Thirdly, Baraboo Music has made a big splash on Facebook!  "Like" us and receive special discounts and offers available only to our Facebook Fans. Our fan base is over 400 people and growing!

Lastly, its hard to believe, but Baraboo Music turns 10 years old this November!  Wow, where did that time go?  Two months after 9-11 we started the small shop down on Walnut St. and here we are 10 years later.... A HUGE THANK YOU to all of our faithful customers (and staff & students) for making it possible for us to continue doing what we love to do - what a blessing! Stay tuned for a 10th anniversary celebration this Fall -- there will be lots of food, fun, and of course, GIVEAWAYS !!!!

Well, that's all for now. As always, keep the groove and God Bless,

Andy

Greetings:

If I had a nickel for every time I heard someone say "You know I always wanted to learn (insert instrument of your choice here) but just never took the time to do it"  These days learning an instrument has never been easier ! from private instruction to books with CD's, to DVD's or even through instructional software we can help you finally learn to play that instrument that you've always wanted to play. I realize how busy many of you are and fitting in 30 minutes a day for practicing an instrument may seem out of reach but if you truly have the desire to accomplish it, we can help you get there. I'll let you in on a little secret: playing an instrument isn't really that hard, what is challenging is finding the time to practice your note, fingerings, scales, etc.  If you can find the time, it won't be long before you are playing that instrument that you always wanted to play... so don't put it off any longer, stop in or call (or email) us and we can help you get started !

Keep the groove and God Bless,

Andy.

Greetings:

Well, summer is here and it's once again the season for live music! Why is live music so special you ask? Its because talented local musicians work very hard to hone their craft for everyone to enjoy and listening to live music is so artistically satisfying compared to simply turning on the radio or home stereo. Here in Baraboo we are blessed to have numerous opportunities to enjoy family-friendly outdoor live music during the summer. Some of these opportunities include: Concerts on the square every Thursday night, Faire on the Square, Zoo Crew Days, Butterfest in Reedsburg, and numerous events in the Dells. So this year make a point of it to explore live music with the family, its better than another round on the video game!

Keep the Groove and God Bless

Andy

As the Holidays are fast approaching its always nice to give thanks for things like family, friends and food (not necessarily in that order) and this November we at Baraboo music would like to thank all of our loyal customers who have continued to support us through the years. On Saturday November 28th we are having a customer appreciation day where we will be giving away a Brand New AXL electric guitar as well as other door prizes all day long. Feel free to stop in any time that day to register as the winner will be announced at closing time (5:00) We will also be throwing 8% off of EVERYTHING in stock so if you've been thinking about purchasing a large item, Saturday November 28th would be the day to pull the trigger on it and save a lot of money. (and for those of you who just come for the food & refreshments, yes you are invited too !!) Thanks again to all of our customers and I look forward to seeing everyone on the 28th !!

Keep the groove and God Bless,

Andy

Greetings:

Hope all are doing well as Spring is fast approaching. As the birds are singing sweetly in the trees we as a nation are listening (enduring?) another season of singing creatures on American Idol. Just want to remind everyone that we have some pretty cool American Idol Music Books in stock these days, so if you like what you hear on the show, you can find the matching sheet music right here at BooMusic. Songs that were sung by Superstars like Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, And Chris Daughtry to Not-so-super stars like, oh lets see, singer/dancer Taylor Hicks? Well, anyway, here's hoping the weather warms up soon and we can go outside in shorts and not experience frostbite in under 2 minutes !

Keep the Groove and God Bless,

Andy

Greetings:

Well anyway as time marches on so must we and speaking of marching....or more specifically marching band, we are just completeing our new 1500 square foot Band instrument showroom located on the lower level here at the store. We will hold a grand opening for this newly completed room in about 1 month (mid Feb) We are very excited to be able to showoff  our band instruments for sale and rental in a beautiful new envirnoment. Come on in and we'll give you a sneek peek at the room as it is in its final prep stage.

As Always, keep the groove & God Bless,

Greetings:

Its hard to believe, but Baraboo Music is about to turn 7 years old !!  On Saturday, November 22nd we will be having an exciting day of food, fun, and refreshments (and of course, great deals on everything in stock) Like most 7 year olds, we enjoy looking back but are more excited about the future and firmly believe that our best years are yet to come. Its been an absolute thrillride for Lisa & Myself as we feel very honored and grateful to be serving the musical needs of Baraboo and Sauk County. A HUGE thank you goes out to our students and regular customers as you folks are the reason we have been able to keep the doors open for these past 7 years. Even with a somewhat shaky economy at the present time, we are confident that the future is bright with more new & exciting things in store for year #8 !!

God Bless & Keep the Groove,

Andy

Greetings:

I would like to say a big "THANK YOU" to everyone who rented a band instrument from us this year. We are at the close of another band instrument rental season and each year we have the privalege of renting more & more instruments to local students & their parents. We especially want to thank the band directors at the Baraboo & Reedsburg school districts for their continued support over the last 4 or 5 years and allowing us the opportunity to come in and compete against our competition from Madison. This not only helps us, but more importantly, gives more than one rental option to many students & their parents. Unfortunately, not every student in our area has the chance to compare rental programs right at the school. For many years,(and even now) the "Other Store" from Madison has had a virtual monopoly on in-school promotion of their rental program. Hopefully this situation will soon change as more & more directors in our area realize that we have a program that has been, in many people's eyes, superior to that of our competition. We especially want to thank those of you from some of these districts that spent the extra time & effort to find us and support us through the rental of your instrument.  We greatly appreciate it !!

As Always,

Keep the Groove & God Bless,

Andy.

Greetings Everyone:

I would like to announce the addition of 3 new faces here at Baraboo Music.

First of all, Tom Larson & Alex Mann are new customer Service reps here at Baraboo Music. They are both students at Baraboo HIgh School and will be working at the store on afternoons and evenings. They are both hard-working, friendly and knowledgable so come on in and say hi to Tom and Alex.

Secondly, we have added a new Guitar instructor to our ever-growing educational staff. Kevin Welsh is working with students on Wednesdays from 2-8 pm. He is very knowledgable on styles ranging from Jazz & Blues to current Rock and is already a big hit with his students.

Welcome to our new employees and as always,

Keep the groove & God Bless,

Andy.

Greetings All,

It is with a measure of sadness that this particular installment of the blog is being written due to the fact that we are saying goodbye to Jon King, an employee here at Baraboo Music. Jon has been with me from the early days when the store initially opened on Walnut St. nearly 7 years ago. Jon is continuing his education at Belmont University in Nashville, TN where he will be pursuing a degree in the area of music production. All of us here at Baraboo Music are sad to see Jon go, but also wish him the very best as he takes on new challenges at Belmont & Beyond !  Jon's last day will be August 21, so if you are around, stop in to say goodbye. Thanks, and as always, Keep the Groove & God Bless,

Andy

Greetings Everyone,

Its always nice to be able to showcase new merchandise in this blog format and this time it is in the Stringed Instrument area. We just signed on with Entertainment Music Marketing Corporation, one of the  best known makers of Violins, Violas, and cellos; great instruments at reasonable prices. We are carrying their Verona (Chinese) series of violins that begin at $130 and their Mathias Thoma (Romanian) series of Violins, Violas, and Cellos. These Romanian violins begin at $299 and are available in a satin or gloss finish --- both are beautiful !!! So if you play violin or are looking to learn how to play one, come down & see our new revamped stringed Instrument Dept. As Always, Keep the Groove & God Bless,

Andy

Some More big news at Baraboo Music! G&L Guitars are on their way! We have just become a licensed dealer for G&L Electric guitars. If you know the history behinf G&L, you know that they are the same people that started Fender Guitars and they put the same innovative technology into G&L today. Our first shipment should be arriving around mid - April and look for plenty of Strats and Teles to choose from. Hmmn....Sounds like a good way to use those Federal rebate checks that are coming doesn't it? Well, anyway until next time, Keep the Groove & God Bless,

Guitar Heros

Greetings Everyone,

We at Baraboo Music have seen a direct correlation between the "Guitar Hero" video game phenomenon and an increase of guitar students wanting to learn "the real thing." A couple of interesting thoughts have been given by some people in the music education realm on whether Guitar Hero is a viable tool of inspiration for learning guitar or not. For the most part, students that have begun lessons here who have mentioned the game as a reason for their interest in guitar have done quite well and have remained as students long enough do dispell the theory that these (mostly kids) won't make good students because learning real guitar insn't the "instant gratification" that a video game is. I suppose the jury is still out on the overall impact that these students will potentially make when it comes to learning to play guitar, but for now things look quite positive. I view it as anything that can spark an interest in playing an instrument and learning about music is a good thing, hopefully Guitar Hero will prove to be an ongoing source of inspiration for many.
